Are you a victim of society?
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I’ve been thinking a lot about society and how the individual relates to it.
Current culture doesn’t have your best interest at heart.
It unconsciously wants you to act sheepish.
It seeks your attention, and more importantly, your obedience.
Here’s a crucial thing to understand:
Society cannot look out for you because it isn’t human.
Large human-created entities such as corporations cannot empathize with you because no one person is controlling them.
People collectively create these entities, but they aren’t necessarily human because they operate on cultural momentum.
The empathetic flame doesn’t exist in this context.
Armed with this knowledge, what are the practical things that you should understand?
From the food perspective
Processed food destroys the mind, body, and spirit.
Society doesn’t value health.
Obesity, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease are skyrocketing.
It isn’t conscious enough yet to help you become the healthiest version of yourself.
It would be best if you taught yourself about:
Human physiology
Nutrition
Cooking
Evolutionary biology as it relates to the human species
If you actively take care of your health, you are the 1%, and you will receive flack for living according to healthy principles.
Friends peer pressure you into eating destructive “food.”
Health authorities give you ass-backwards advice based on corporate influence.
Advertisements lure you into craving the next best food that promotes disease.
It’s an uphill battle, but you are in control of the outcome.
From the training perspective.
Although society has gained a better grasp of the importance of following an active lifestyle, it’s not good enough.
People are more concerned with looking the part than becoming it.
Most training philosophy centers around vanity and shallow motivations; it comes at the expense of living holistically.
Walk the middle path.
Train, but don’t become addicted to it out of insecurity.
Invest more of your time and energy into a movement that stands the test of time — walking, yoga, hiking, etc.
From the mindfulness perspective.
You live in a rushed society that spends its time doing things, only to get nowhere productive.
Awareness is a crucial skill to becoming the healthiest, happiest, and strongest version of yourself.
Thankfully, mindfulness philosophy is beginning to spread throughout mainstream media, yet we must double down.
One of the main reasons why most feel miserable:
They go through the motions and become a puppet of the unconscious mind.
When they eat, it’s time spent on the phone.
When they are with a close friend, negative thoughts get the best of them.
This is no way to live.
You must prioritize mindfulness, and there is a myriad of practices to develop this state of awareness.
Reject the rushed lifestyle.
From the entertainment perspective.
Conventional entertainment creates fear and distraction.
Turn on the television and scroll to a news channel right now.
What do you see?
Fear-based headlines, negativity, and mindless entertainment that people watch to numb pain.
Happy people do not entertain mainstream media because they understand its destructive nature. It lowers your vibration and trains you to view the world negatively.
From the work perspective.
Soul-sucking work numbs the spirit.
Most people don’t understand what it’s like to pursue a passion and give themselves to a higher calling.
Wage slavery controls the masses.
Breaking out of the 9–5 lifestyle might be the most emotionally demanding task you’ll face.
I’m not one to shit on it; many desire the corporate ladder climb, and that’s their decision to make.
On the other hand, most people cannot stand it because it steals time and energy from the muse that they feel deep within.
If you want to work for yourself, and inspire countless people with your message, create a plan to break out of the system.
It’s never been easier, especially with 21st-century technology.
What larger point am I making?
Personal responsibility matters most.
Don’t rely on the government, science, or any external authority to dictate what you can and cannot do with this one life that you are blessed to have.
You have more control than you think.
A part of myself experiences sadness whenever I observe somebody living from the victim archetype.
I understand what that feeling is like; it’s a heart-wrenching experience that takes a toll on mind, body, and spirit.
But it’s never worth it.
You are a creator.
You are not a victim of society, even though it’s tempting to resist the conventional lifestyle.
Instead of thinking negatively about your place within culture, focus energy on what you can control.
Every human being is given the opportunity to create what they desire within this finite experience, but few are willing to confront reality and practice discipline.
Never lose touch with your innate power.
